Business Features

Listen to our small business owners: Portland is known for its small shops, it's really what makes Portland unique.

REVIVE ATHELTICS

I feel like Portland has just been a city that has really brought people in to know that this is a community that really wants to work together and collaborate. You don't see that in other cities in the same way.

Portland is known for its small shops, it's really what makes Portland unique.
Being part of a network that supports each other through challenges, staying strong, resilient.  It's a great community of crafters and artists.

It helps to add to the fabric, the character of Portland, to have these cute quirky shops. We're a part of this community that we really care about and Portlander takes their community really seriously.

Being in a community that really supports its small businesses has been really great.

Shopping small is so important because you keep your money within the community. You are supporting somebody directly by shopping at their business. Us being able to hire local people, support the local economy, that's important.

It's so important to be aware of our impact, in our culture we're so separated from nature, which isn't healthy You see also in Portland specifically a younger generation starting to think about that I'd rather live without and be able to save up and buy the right thing that will last a long time. Buying second hand isn't going to solve the problem, but you are going to be aware of your impact and ways to lessen it.

Portlanders care about not just buying products but how they're made and where they're coming from and whether they are contributing somehow, and so they really connect with us I think in that way.

“Sure, Portland has malls, department stores, and chain outlets. But shopping the vintage, handmade, locally owned goodness of our small shops is what we love best. Here are some of our faves:

💕Kabinett, Mantel, Tender Loving Empire”

“I finally made it in to @midnightsunlightshop and now i’m literally obsessed with the mid century furniture, the early portland storefront (built in 1884!!), and the stunning lighting in this incredibly curated vintage home store.”

“The Dockside Saloon has saved my sanity this past year with its awesome staff, comfortable outdoor seating, deliciously consistent eggs, hash browns, toast, and lashings of coffee."
